WR1's are 325hp as std i think.

you'd annihilate a normal WRX, they are only about 215hp.  the STI's are about 260hp, you might stay with one once from rolling, mine at stage 2+ eclipsed the one i almost bought when i got the guy to do a rolling run next to mine for a comparsion

think you are right mate, think the scooby would be in the region of 108mph terminal speed

his fastest 1/4 is 13.02 secs at 102mph

he said hes had higher terminals but they were slower 1/4 mile times overall.

a point to note, these are all done on toyo T1R road tyres, which to be fair arnt exactly that good.

13.02 @ 101.45mph

various clips

a few of his, think his brother in his 2.1 Zvh nitrous ka is on there as well, hes now into the 12's so watch out for him guys

its shows how strong the K04 is up the top end.  hes fitting R1Rs, and with his decat exhaust, paddle clutch and lightened flywheel hes hoping to get well into the 12's on his next runs.

Nice vids Sy, but those terminal speeds are very low considering his claimed power figures (expected at least 105mph). Just shows how much the 4WD helps off the line, but hinders it when rolling. Late 90's on some of those runs is what some standard ED30's run  :surprised:
Be a good race to the line with a Stage 2+ Ed30, with the Scoob taking massive chunks out of the Golf off the line. But it would catch it at a serious rate of knotts once moving..
Wouldn't fancy his chances off a RA  . In fact i'd imagine yours to be quicker once moving. You not had a play with him yourself? (without that sounding to dodgy  )

off the mark he is well and truly miles away from me before ive even managed to get full power down with out wheel spin.

my car Vs His:  in gear accelerations in 3rd 4th and 5th from 30mph i drive off from him lol until his boost comes on,  then it catches up really fast and flies past.  horendous lag, k04 enine is definitely better

he can adjust all the power to the front and rear on it as well which makes hell of a difference when messing about in it as well, its an absolute beast in the corners.

he couldnt believe the terminal speeds you guys were getting, i had to show him you tube vids to prove it to him.  his car is all about grip,
his highest terminal speed was 105mph i think, but tha is also one of his worst runs. so i guess the better the start he gets the lower his terminals he gets.

As for power, his remap only released another 10Hp over std, so id say they are pretty accurate, plus on Dyno dynamic rollers, most k04 stage 2+cars get about 330hp

I have just bought my Golf GTI Mk5 and currently I do not know what level of modifications have been implemented apart from the cold intake (because I can see it).
It's a new project for me and will soon get a full diagnosis so I know exactly what is needed as a starting point. I have however taken it for a test run with an ODB11 attached and here are the results given.

0-20 - 00:01.296
0-40 - 00:02.909
0-60 - 00:06.191
0-80 - 00:09.985
0-100 - 00.15.471

Seem quicker than standard  but certainly room for improvement.

Reincarnated topic....It might not be tuned because 15.4s to 100 mph seems stock. When mine was tuned for the stock K03 with just an intake...it did 14.1s 1/4mi @ 100 mph.

It's a new project,  I'm currently rebuilding my Mk5.  Nothing too major as I'm a beginner so mainly simply things like broken switches, exhaust system, induction etc then finally a few handling tweaks and a respray.
I'm currently looking at either a remap or racechip but I'm not sure which would be more beneficial and mainly which one would be safer for the life of the engine.
Any suggestions or advice?  It's my 1st car project

Thanks

Looks tuned compared to the times shown here - http://accelerationtimes.com/models/vw-golf-gti - or the timer started late as 1.3s to 20 seems incredible!

Don't do a "RaceChip". Don't believe they even have a module for the MK5 FSI as they only list them for 2008 and on for the TSI. Get a Stage(?) tune/file from Revo, APR, GIAC, or other trusted tuner there. Any are safe...so just see which has a dealer available near you.

Thank you for your response.

Funny you mentioned FSI as my car shows up differently in various searches. Sometimes information given represents a TFSI?  When purchasing the Golf it had quite a lot of previous maintenance history including an engine rebuild in 2014 which resulted with -
'Receipt quote' replacement engine supplied by customer.

I have since tried to look into the true identity of this replacement engine as the diverter valve is located at the front of the engine bay and not attached directly to the turbo as standard.  I also can not find and blanking plate on the turbo as I first thought assuming the DV had been simply relocated. The engine code is AXX  (or so the sticker on cam casement states).

Any knowledge on this? Admittedly,  I am new to the car world and this is my first VW so apologies if my questions are complete noob

BTW,  my nearest and best reviewed remapping company is R-Tech Performance .

Thank again.

TFSI, FSI, and TSI really mean nothing and the same. FSI="fuel stratified injection”, TSI =“turbo stratified injection", and TFSI="turbo fuel stratified injection". They/ours are either belt or chain driven off the crank to the exhaust cam with a belt for the early years and a chain for the last 1.5 years of the MK5. The AXX is belt drive and is commonly referred to as the TFSI or FSI. Would be just a guess...but the turbo may be a K03 but not a VW oem turbo and why the needed to relocate the DV. Or, it is a K04 from the Audi S3 or VW GTI Edition 30. There should be a plate attached to the turbo with its specs on it. Can you get a good close up pic of that plate? Located; https://c1552172.ssl.cf0.rackcdn.com/401218_x800.jpg

I would guess it is a K04, but you would really want to confirm which turbo it is prior to approaching the tuner...or have them/R-Tech confirm its identity beforehand.
