Engine Judder and EML Light on
« on: August 20, 2018, 07:18:16 pm »
Hi all,

I’m new here and to MK5 GTi ownership and have found the site super helpful so far! Mine is a 55 plate.

One issue I’m having is that the car seems to have a judder at idle. The RPM stays the same although on occasion the RPM will track up to about 1500 then drop (only whilst the car is slowing down or creeping slowly in traffic )

It did this for a couple of weeks, then the EML has come on. I’ve borrowed a code reader and the following codes have come up:
P2187 Bank 1 system too lean at idle
P2279 Leak air intake system lower limit reached
P0507 Idle control system rpm higher than expected upper limit reached

Basically I don’t know where to begin on a fix so any help pointing me in the right direction would be much appreciated!

Matt

Google says PVC valve for these codes. Does that sound right?

Yes, I’d start with replacing the PCV
