i just searched ebay and Gumtree until i found one locally- £120 so a bargain. Just got to fit it now

Correct, they're far from cheap....  :rolleye:
I've looked into roof bars and book racks to carry bikes, and both would no doubt be cheaper but more faff. It would be handy to be able to occasionally use a trailer as well.
To be honest I'd have to pay someone to fit it or at least the electrics so not sure about the used option being viable.
