Probably worth comparing some torque plots of CDL vs AXX before getting into cam swaps.  The biggest influence on the torque curve comes from turbo sizing, so the cams might only net you a comparatively small gain for the hassle and expense.

And history has taught me that mixing and matching different bits of VW / Audi engines can bite you in the bum if you're not careful, so if it were me, I'd throw an entire CDL lump in and benefit from all the other improvements at the same time.

Pretty nice topic! It would be nice if someone gave some details about the difference in strength between cdl and byd blocks. Also are you sure those codes use 4 bolt mains? I thought this was a feature of newer ea888 tsi engines. But seeing some photos of ea888 blocks they seem to use less webbing/thinner main bearings.

How can I find out if my axx has the revision b cam or not. It's a 2005 and reading this concerns me as I'm running stage 2+. Thanks

Unbolt the pump from the end of the inlet cam and you can see there

Vaccum pump that is ^

Its either that or remove the whole chain cover. Removing the vacuum pump is much easier  :happy2:
