Gti clutch on an edition 30
« on: September 09, 2018, 12:49:18 pm »
Quick question... will a Mk5 gti clutch and flywheel fit onto an edition 30 perfectly?

I would have thought so, but my cousin wanted some reassurance 😂 Thanks

Am I right in thinking that a TDi clutch from a similar age golf also bolts in to an ED30 or Pirelli Edition for those getting a little clutch slip on a remap

Would that work out better value than going for a Sachs or something ?

TDI & GTI/ED30/Pirelli = same clutch

A popular oem upgrade in the states is TTRS cover with stock GTI friction plate and dmf. Good for 450lbft but still a light pedal.  You can’t use the TTRS friction plate because the TT’s input shaft is much bigger.

And this is indeed the basis of the HS Tuning RSR kit. Plenty of stuff online about diy versions but good to use OEM parts where possible.

Thanks

it will be much cheaper to  do the job yourself if you can, and just have a look around for the clutch for your car, it will give you a rough idea. if you cant do it yourself... then best off phoning an indy for a quote.

No point going for TDI specifically as it's the same clutch as the GTI as I already stated.

Good shout on doing it yourself if you have the tools and an engine support cradle (sits across the inner wings).

I managed to hammer my local dealer down to Eurocarparts level prices for a genuine DMF and clutch, which is always the recommend choice.  Without discount, they are horrendous money.
