Rear glass replacement
« on: August 31, 2018, 07:03:11 am »
I'm looking to have the boot glass changed, has anyone done this before?
I've heard the rear spoiler is bonded to the metal and is a nightmare to get back together, others say the spoiler will not effect glass removal or install and the glass is independent of the spoiler.
Anyone have the knowledge and advise please?

I had mine replaced 6 months ago and they used a small air bad to gently lift away the rear spoiler. It did break the black casing inside a tiny bit but he used gorilla glue and bonded the end's back perfect fine.

Thanks for that, good to see what itll look like. I dropped into the local VW place yesterday and the guy said some spoilers are plastic and some are metal, apparently mine is metal and he reckons it'll be held on with 3 screws, i'll post up once i get it done.

Turns out my boot spoiler was bonded on but it made no difference to the glass replacement. Changed over no problems.
