Hi All!

Been lurking in the background for a while now, the to do guides on the GFB DV+ was immense, and i can confirm it was an utter git to replace... however completely transformed the car! so much more fun to drive now!

Got this a couple of months ago, FSH, 95k on the clock and completely standard... have a few plans for it! The first on the list is a new headunit! looking at the RNS510, along with a Kenwood unit... need a unit that has sat nav, spotify, and DAB...

First things to do are..

Stage 1 tune
Panel filter
Xenon headlights
Engine cover (mine has a crack in it)
Air filter cover (at the front of the engine bay its missing  )
GTi seat handles
GTi door sills
New Number plates
Black vw badge.
Rear R32 lights

Thats top of my head, however sure once i get involved in the forum that will change considerably!

 I would agree the Dv is a git to replace! I have also just fitted the GFB DV+ 
 I went for a Kenwood head unit and think its well worth the money.

Cheers David! Which headunit did you go for? Seen a few on eBay that look decent. Dab Spotify and maps are the key things for me...

Take a look at the kenwood DNX516DABS, got one in mine and it works well.

I ended up going for the DNX7170 it has everything on it

you have to be careful as the DMX7017 doesn't have maps where as the DNX7170 does and easily confused, my guy that supplied mine made that mistake and first supplied me the 7017!

Awesome! That's really good to know.... Thanks for the heads up.... Can you run Google maps through your phone on it? Or is the Garmin one the one to use?

you have to be careful as the DMX7017 doesn't have maps where as the DNX7170 does and easily confused, my guy that supplied mine made that mistake and first supplied me the 7017!

The 7017 and 7170 have apple and android functions, as I have apple I know the apple maps will run on my 7170 but I tend to us the 7170 Garmin built in map.

yep you will need the wiring harness adaptor, maybe arial adaptor and also the golf mk5 fitting kit which will have the curved bezel
