Revo help
« on: September 16, 2018, 03:53:45 pm »
Hi guys Been looking on this forum for a while and now I am searching for a mk5 gti it will be a k03 as budget will not stretch to an ed30. I will be looking to get the car mapped straight away but I will be adding an intake, precat delete and a cat back system, latest dv and new cam follower before hand.
What sort of power figures could I expect after mapping and will it be a stage 1 map I go for and also what is the scs for and is this only for using once you have had a map?

Not sure if you have a dsg or a manual - that will make a difference for torque handling capacity from stock - however I would save money on the cat back / intake and look into a VIS hpfp upgrade and possibly a sports cat downpipe. That will give you the best torque for a modest budget whilst keeping decent response and refinement.

Suggest just the HPFP upgrade then and not the downpipe also otherwise you will be slipping the clutch with the combined extra torque. This way is cheaper and doesn’t give any issues with MOT.

Slipping clutch isn’t an issue to change I can do that easily in work and don’t think removing the pre cat will give any issues with emissions either

Uprated clutch = £800 parts for Helix with DMF. Sports cats can give MOT issues but precat delete is fine.

SPS is required to reinstate the performance map if the battery is disconnected or replaced.  It also allows you to tweak the fuel and timing parameters.

I didn't notice anything after bashing out the first cat, but it won't do any harm not being there.  It will reduce back pressure related EGT a bit.
