Connecting an Amp to RNS 510

I have bought a Pioneer GM-D1004 amplifier which I intend to connect to my RNS 510 in the hope it will at least slightly improve sound quality (using the stock 10 speakers for now).  Am I right in thinking I need one of these:

If not that, what is the adaptor I need to hook it up?  Are there any coding changes that would be needed, I read something about changing to VW sound system in VCDS?

You need to solder the plugs, because I haven't seen any adapter for rns510. That one will not fit, or you can buy it, cut on the soldering points and solder to your loom. Yes, you need to change the coding for sound system to get the proper signal for the amp or brake/take the pins out from the black plug and put to your quadlock.

Ok thanks for that. They don't make it easy do they? I guess they never intended the RNS 510 to be used with an aftermarket amp!

Cheers for that, but it's a bit over my head tbh. Will have to find an audio specialist I think as EddieNL doesn't fancy installing it!

Having read the instructions, there is the option of connecting the units using the RCA input jack of the amplifier to the stereo RCA output jack, or by connecting the stereo speaker output wires to the amp using the supplied speaker input cord.

I think you can using the high level inputs, but I ended up fitting a blaupunkt amp instead that’s plug and play.

You need high to low level inputs and then you just cut the speaker wires add it in and then connect it to the amp.

To enable fitting without cutting into the loom you need a quad lock with mini iso’s from dynamic sounds.
