Yrah gonna swap wheels/ tyres from my old mans Audi to see if the shaking goes, at least then I will know what the problem is

Swapped wheels front to back and still doing it.

The more I plant my right foot the worse the shaking is??

Are you using upgraded pads on standard discs????

Don't rule out a dodgy driveshaft......

They can and do wear out at their splined ends where the CV joint attaches, more so if you have more torque/power than factory. They can also shed their factory balance pieces if they become corroded.

You could have either an unbalanced drive shaft of a worn inner or outer CV joint that is starting to impact the front end as the speed of the rotation of the drive shaft increases.

Visually check both to make sure they are OK, and you have not picked up crap etc that has become attached to one of the shafts.

There used to be a couple of specialist companies that could re balance drive shafts, but if you can get hold of a couple of known good driveshafts, it might be worth considering this if  all else fails.....

But don’t mention driveshafts to me as my old ex mk5  non gti /r golf used 6 in an 18 Mth period  :fighting: :fighting:

Mind you it was on air ride with a camber and no it wasn’t me who fitted it  :ashamed:  :ashamed: :ashamed:

What symptoms did you get ?

MK5s don't have weight balanced driveshafts from the factory.  Certain older VWs had weighted rubber discs bonded to the longer shaft, which was a harmonic absorber, and it often fell off or came loose.

Good call though, the spline wear mentioned is spot on.

FWIW, I had to replace an outer CV recently and at 125K miles, I wasn't sure of the integrity of the inner joints either.  Long story short, I got a sizeable discount on a pair of shafts from VW, complete with new CVs at each end, ready to throw on.  It worked out more cost effective than replacing the individual joints, and I hate getting that hideous moly grease all over the place.  A lot of the 'heavy metal' parts have much bigger discount codes than the smaller stuff, you just have to ask.  They won't tell you that off the bat, obviously.

If you have a friendly Tps branch it’s worth pricing up with them first (you can twist their arm to give 10% discount for being in a car club but parts must be for anything under the Vw umbrella)and then telling your dealer if you use one as then they will match the price from Tps esp if dealer is fitting  :rolleye:
