Evening everyone.

I purchased an 07 mk5 GTi with 100k on the clock last month after selling my Mk2.

So far amongst other things I've replaced

R8 Coil packs
NGK Plugs
Shell Helix Ultra 5w40
Mann oil filter
Genuine cambelt tensioner & water pump
Genuine cam follower
Genuine rev G diverter valve
Genuine map sensor (due to fault)

Problem I'm having over the past few days since the oil and filter change is a ticking noise from the drivers side front of the engine when hot. I've read a million threads about cam chain and tensioner being a possibility but as its on the other side and it's happened very quickly I can't see that being likely. The only code I have is for the evap system, P0441 incorrect flow. I've ordered a canister purge valve as I read this could be the problem but I don't think this has anything to do with the tapping noise. Can anyone shed any light of the matter so I know what direction to go in please. Thanks in advance.

Use a long screwdriver as a stethoscope, especially on the areas you've worked on recently.

Is the noise there constantly and varies in pitch with engine revs, or is it only there at idle?
