My tornado gti
« on: August 19, 2019, 07:19:36 am »
Morning all,

Quick introduction, I'm Richard, 32 from Leeds, and here is my Mk5 GTi in tornado red.

Bought the car back in march 2017 from another car enthusiast, she had a rear colour codes bumper, black 18" monzas, coilovers, along with factory leather and xenons, plus maintained well and a lovely clean example.

In the few years I've had her I've put lots of my own touches on her, I've had both rear arches pulled and resprayed, rear boot badge (rust) cleaned and resprayed, vortex (ed30) front splitter sprayed and fitted, side skirts sprayed and replaced the rear bumper for a us spec one (small number plate gap), and I've since had several different alloy wheels, had a nice set of 3sdm wheels in 18" but now have 19" BBS CHs currently in black (soon to be resprayed).

I've updated the interior by upgrading all the switches and climate for Mk6, 8" screen radio, Mk7 GTi gear knob and mk7.5 steering wheel which I've had retrimmed thicker to be more like the Mk5/7.

Engine wise, I've had r tech remap my car to stage 2 running 270bhp, I have a 3" down pipe decat, middle box delete, front mounted intercooler and a forge diverter valve along with an induction kit, I do t like how the engine looks naked so I've retrofitted a TSI engine cover which need some painting.

And to finish off I've just recently removed all the coilover suspension and fitted airlift performance 3p suspension with adjustable drop links, there have Performance front bags and slam rear bags.

Hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I do.

Look forward to all the comments (even the bad ones, I enjoyed criticism)

Peace.

Never been a fan of any red cars but this is very nice

Ever thought of some r32 rear lights or Valeo’s

Actually yes but they are hard to come by, it's so close to an ed30 Baring the rear lights as you say, I'm not one to buy new items, I'd say 80% of the mods are second hand, if I could have had the map done second hand I would have haha

Pardon my ignorance but what's the wooden box under the boot floor?

Are stated, yes to hid all the compressor and manifold, just keeps the boot tidy and free from anything knocking into them.

I can still use my boot just isn't as deep as before
