Stereo battery drain (Pioneer)
« on: November 16, 2018, 08:02:28 am »
Hi all I have fitted a Pioneer double din around 4 months ago. It doesn't turn off with the key and have to turn it off manually but it ain't completely off. When I  first fitted it and got in the car it would always loose memory & reset whatever I was listening to from the start then a month later battery was dead. Fitted a new battery and everything was fine and memory was always remembered. 3 months later now the weather has dropped over night, in the mornings my auto lights won't come on and stereo started loosing memory again. Car starts up fine but I think the stereo has a constant drainage where it ain't completely off. I've head things about fuse taps or canbus module harness fitted. Anyone got any information or links etc on how to do this or what's best option to do as I don't want to replace battery again in under a year from new?

Thanks in advance

How are you connecting into cars wiring?

I have a pioneer as well and have this kit which connects nicely with the Canbus. Its been in there about 6 weeks now, and I've not had any battery issues yet.

I've just plugged the pioneer head unit in the same way the factory one was fitted. I don't have steering wheel controls in mine so will that canbus harness still work with mine?

Yup should do, It'll take the on/off signal from the Can Bus then. Your head unit should have like a female headphone jack socket the module plus into via this
