Crank sensor?? Byd cutting out issues randomly
« on: November 21, 2018, 04:06:14 am »
I’ve tried live logging the car on a ethos snap on diagnostic tool, codes that came back, p1093 fuel management short circuit/ground, knock sensor bank 1 sensor 1(g61 I think was the code) and j17 fuel pump relay.......also worth mentioning misfires on cylinder 4 was logged (new coils and plugs fitted recently)

I’ve put new everything on this engine in the last 6k engine is now only on 87k
Engine is a byd
Mods are as follows
Millers oils (must must must have for any tfsi)
Vis hpfp
Rs4 return valve 136
S3 injectors (think they same part as byd standard ones)
Revo induction
R8 coils
Ngk iridium plugs
Decat
Gfb diverter valve
Sachs Sre clutch and dark side single mass flywheel
Forge catch can
Massive intercooler full size not a twin intercooler thing
Original k04 turbo but new cartridge fitted
Bigger discharge boost pipe and bigger pipes in general
Turbo muffler delete
3bar map sensor
Orange s3 fuel pressure regulator sensor
Custom map by ash a very good lad 👍🏻

All fitted by myself including the engine build (😎built not bought😎) never had a garage touch my car since owning it, only ever asked advice on issues I’m stuck on

Most sensors have been replaced or cleaned, I’ve had a vacuum test, leak test, compression test and all came back good and as should be.

So the issue is when I driving the car, it is stage 2+ so as I put the power down in let’s say 3rd the car boosts up then at random times I get what feels like the key been flicked off and revs drop for a split second to basically zero it’s also happened pulling out at junctions 😱 I’ve never been stuck this badly with what it could be, my brain said straight away crank sensor now it’s saying hpfp or the module or the in tank pump or maybe one of the relays that nobody knows anything about or where they hide out (it’s a 449 or a 169 rubbish lol)
but seriously any help is massively appreciated if anyone has experienced anything similar it saves me calling Aks and having a message off a desperate lad with a old mk5 gti passed on to Alex 😂😂😂

Nice one, hopefully got it.

I had a Mondeo ST TDCi a few years back, thing would conk out at any time, changed the crank position sensor & that sorted it.

Further update on the replaced crank sensor.
car is running like a dream! Also getting really good fuel economy😑......yeah right lol gti is back to been a animal, a very thirsty animal.......hope this can point a few people in the right direction if suffering juddering/bucking when under low boost when car is cold but will start up is fine every time no strain, and then straight up engine cut off, revs hit 0 nearly the straight back to normal position, this only happened when above 70-90 on the temp gauge, also when diagnostic scanned it was misfiring only in cylinder 4 and doing a bit research that’s a bit of a tell tale sign that it’s the crank sensor on the tfsi ALLEGEDLY
😎👍🏻

Strange, you'd normally get a fault code for the 'G28 - engine speed sensor' but glad it's sorted  :happy2:
