MK6 MFSW module compatibility with MK5?
« on: December 12, 2018, 04:06:17 am »
Can anyone tell me if the MFSW module out of a MK6 golf would still work if I was to fit it into my MK5?

My thinking is that if the MK6 steering wheel is a straight fit/ replacement on the MK5 then surly the modules be interchangeable too?

Also is there any difference in the slip rings from a MFSW one and non MFSW version?

Any help would be appreciated.

You need revision CH control module, it is the most compatible, the only one that can communicate on lin 1.3 (Golf 5) and lin 2.0 (Golf VI). Don't worry about the slip rings, they're the same.

Control Module Part Number   Slip Ring   Software Level   Variant   Steering Angle Sensor   LIN Version
1K0-953-549-CH                     Type 2   SW 0111           Highline           Yes                             1.3 & 2.0

There are a lot of China copies on ebay, but they are really good:

Thanks for the info. The EBay link you’ve added is that a genuine one?

Also just to clarify I have a 2008 MK5 GT TDi (170) and it doesn’t have the multi function steering wheel. I’m wanting to add this onto my car and get the module.

Should I still be ok with the one you posted the link for?

And the CH model number is off a MK6?

Thanks buddy. Just seen the last bit you wrote and mine is a DSG model (without the highline clocks but I’m thinking of adding the Scirocco highline clocks later. Guessing it won’t work?

I'd go for CH then if you're not sure.

I got mine off eBay.

You will need a new airbag loom/harness so that it it can plug into the media socket (Black plug)

1K0971584C was my part number. (But i'm not 100% sure, can anyone confirm?)
