I have one of the older versions of the RNS510 with the top right button with speaker and 'i' symbol - this means I cant load the new maps 2016 on as now dual Layer disc and my drive is single layer when you have this button. Anybody recommend somebody trustworthy to update the firmware and the maps to latest version - online it sounds like a real mess around, and high risk of bricking my old model (JULY-2008 Manufacture Version H03)...
Anybody on here who would be prepared to update using the Memory Card route, only way? Or know of a company that can do for reasonable money?
That's not the true issue. Your radio hard drive needs more space on the maps partition. You need to install a modified firmware that takes space from the music partition to the maps partition. If you're not comfortable doing that, it's better to contact a retrofitter or upgrade your RNS-510 to a newer revision. I had that issue with my factory fitted RNS-510 Revision A when I wanted to install more recent maps (2016 at the time). I later bought a Revision R so I didn't need to worry about the disc reader not reading some DVD due to dirty lenses.
