Cam follower hpfp
« on: December 22, 2018, 07:44:30 pm »
Hi,

Im a new owner to a mk5 gti 2006 with 162k.

I've got a pending p2293 but only uphill when hard throttle past 4-5k revs. engine goes into limp. Other conditions are cold start is lengthy. Cam follower is new. Some very slight normal wear on ti spring retainer. Slight dark inner patches on the flat sections of the cam lobe, not the peaks. Cam lobe peaks are smooth. Changed fuel filter. Lpfp sounds as tho its priming ok.

Few questions.

If it's only happening up hill on a gradient (slight) could it be an issue with the Lpfp. Does gradient affect hpfp solenoid or bowl?

Can you purchase a ti spring retainer by itself.
Is there anyway you can tell if the hpfp has been previously replaced (batch codes printed on suggesting date? It's Hitachi with the banjo bolt)
What tools do I need to measure Lpfp and hpfp. I have a foxwell nt 204. I dont think this cab Di the job. Do u need gauges?

Kind regards,

Dunk

Thanks. Its not putting an engine light on, just literally a limp mode when using high rpm/power up a gradient. I changed the inline fuel filter and its massively helped with cold starts. The n276 valve makes a ticking noise, and if you unplug it the epc dash light comes on, and it reads the correct ohms, which suggests the solenoid works  Im thinking the n276 for me could be the low pressure fuel pump? Is this possible?
