Japanese Gen 5 on eBay - a newbie looking for advice
« on: February 22, 2019, 01:21:36 pm »
Hi all,

A long time Mercedes owner who is looking for a change. I have long admired the Gen 5 GTI and have decided this might be my next car.
This eBay auction catches my eye but I am new enough not to really know what a sensible value might be for this car or what the pitfalls of an ex Japanese car are?
Anybody got any advice?

Thanks in advance
Bruce

That car is already gone, so couldn’t see any details about it.

It did not meet reserve, got to £4700, guy is looking for 6K I think. I am not after every last ounce of performance and from what I have read a std gen 5 will give enough so the ED30 is not a this stage anyway convincing me.
Any thoughts on real market value for this car?

Get some insurance quotes as I believe premiums can be a lot higher for imports.
