Is the 729 a direct swap for the 730? I have the 730 and whilst it's a great unit it doesn't seem to support PAN which means I can't get a data connection when my phone is connected to the kit. This is a bit of a pain. So a swap to a 729 might be in order, but I really don't want to have to redo the wiring (I managed to get everything done without removing the drivers seat but it was a bit of a pain).

Cheers, Mark.

^^^ I think my factory fit rsap premium kit is a 730 and I will be swapping it to a 729C later today so I will hopefully be able to confirm the wiring is all the same

What is the difference between the 2 kits? I though thw 729's were older and the 730's were the 'updated' model. Am I wrong?

compatibility with different BT versions and different mobilephone brands is the difference, i bought the 729b (skoda) based on the info that it works with the most brands and BT software versions. Eventhough it hurts me every time i see skoda on my phone  :booty:

I changed the name of the device on my mobile, so every time it connects it now says "Connected to VW Edition 30" rather than "Connected to Skoda UHV". :happy2:
GTI Edition 30 No. 907, 3 door, Black. (Now Sold)

Yep, to use a 730 your phone needs to support a Bluetooth profile called Remote SIM Access Profile, or RSAP. Not all phones have this (although it's a good idea imo). If yor phone has RSAP then the 730 has some advantages.
The 729 supports the standard Bluetooth Hands Free Profile, which so common that even Apple could be bothered to implement it!

So was it a straight swap Steve, or did you have to redo the cabling as well?

Straight swap, the extra buttons by the interior lights no longer work but that's not big deal  :happy2:

I read that the part numbers just mean a different supplier - could be wrong though

Could well be nothing more than that, the A version is badged Nokia whereas the B is badged Novero. But the SW version on the B unit is much later than the A unit, and if they have added support for the profile I'm looking for then I wouldn't have to consider swapping the 730 for a 729.
The other concern would be that the B version only works with the white MFD, not the red one.
