GTI MFSW??

Msmith1410:
Hello everyone, what a group I’ve learnt loads in the few weeks that I’ve owned my 1st MK5 Gti. But My question is regarding MFSW mine has no buttons but seems to have the 2 wiring harness for the airbag and where the buttons should be just seem to be blanking plates? Are you are to buy the switches or am I just better buying a proper MFSW?
Thanks if anyone can advise  :popcornsoda:

You're really better of finding a mfsw although I think the buttons can be retrofitted but it involves cutting away the foam that the blanks attach to. Also the proper mfsw has tags to route the cables from the buttons neatly that the standard wheel doesn't have.

Depends if the car is DSG and if it has the paddle shifts already on the wheel. If it is then the wires for the MFSW are already there so it’s a case of buying the buttons and replacing (which is what i did with mine).

Thanks fakie1977! Yes it’s has DSG with paddles,  where did you source your buttons from? I’m in the process of up rating the midline 962 display to highline 970. I have the button on the window wiper stalk. Will the MFSW buttons over ride the stalk or do I need to change something on VCDS? Thanks

Octoparrot:
The buttons should work as well as the stalk.
