Sounds like Turners are more interested in making money on parts sales if they won’t fit proper VAG parts supplied by their customers

I paid £80 to my local garage to do the job with me supplying them parts. If that helps.   :happy2:

Got the pipe and o ring from TPS for like £47 and the sump sealant loctite was £12 I think.

I never replace the sump plug either lol
If it don’t leak why bother. Back in the day with copper squash washers it was different.

Always used a magnetic sump plug

Sounds like they only want the work if they can wring out as much cash as possible from you.

Awesome gti will fit owner supplied parts

I only replace it when/if the threads feel a bit stiff, which shouldn't happen if the bolt is torqued to spec  :happy2:

I replace mine every other change for the sake of a pound or so

As for customer supplied parts - fully agree with them 100%. They then have to warrant those parts as if they supplied them but could never claim the labour should the parts fail, not to mention the cost/hassle if said parts are supplied incorrectly. Far more hassle than its worth

Doesn't matter - under law they have to warrant their workmanship and the parts fitted. It's far more hassle to them than it's worth

If you're using a garage then have them supply the parts

So if something goes wrong who do you blame? You surely must understand their reason for not fitting parts that customers supply.

I bought the parts from RPS online.
I didn’t even know they existed till someone on another thread recommended them
