Is a high kms gti too late to do a stage 2 tune?
« on: April 02, 2019, 08:50:52 am »
Hi guys

My gti has done 174000kms doesn't use any coolant or oil and now i want to do a tune. The thing is i think a stage 2 tune is way too much psi and my engine is just too old to all of a sudden handle that amount of psi. Is it possible to put a downpipe de catted and reduce the amount of psi a stage 2 tune would do? Lets day 17 psi? I want reliable power as i dont wanna have to rebuild my engine only a year after a tune

Anyones thoughts on tuning a higher milage gti?

Hiya.  You should be fine to do that tune at that mileage. Mine is about about to tick over 180k and has been stage 2+ for about the last 40k. It was on stage 1 for about 10k before that.
As long as you’ve got no engine issues then you should be fine.
I’m guessing from your username that you’re in New Zealand. If so, are you in Auckland, as I can scan your car with VCDS to check it for you if you like?
Also, what tuning company are you thinking of using?
