Good choice.  An ITG would be my choice.  Simple and effective.  And looks good.

Have your heard one on a K04 car Robin?

IIRC Stokeballoon rather enjoyed the pleasant sound of the finely engineered ITG intake on mine during the last trip to the ring  :happy2:

....I've heard GTIjames's and in that short space of time it certainly didn't match up to what some people have said regarding it being loud. But "loud" in a good way which many people enjoy.

The point I was making is that judging by his posts, Dave is very particular about sounds heard inside the cabin and consequently I would have expected him not to like it. I hadn't realised he was your passenger on your trip so clearly he knows what the ITG sounds like and also better than I do currently.

i think having engine mounts will increase the cabin noise from an intake - itg is quite loud but as you said robin it has a nice sound to it - if you have a forge dv aswell then the noise when you lift off the gas is something else... certainly scares pedestrians  :jumpmove:

highly recommend it  :happy2:

Get the intake that was developed with your map, so if its Revo stage 5 zillion then it maybe an ITG but also bear in mind it probably had a Zorst, fuel pump and some other bits. I like seeing other people get something diff rather than the "in stuff"
I am unfashionable with my GIAC & Dbilas........ and maybe a Remus exhaust  :P but dont buy a Carbonio hell NO!

i had a dbilas before the itg - was alright but had a few issues of the engine cutting on me when changing gears at speed (dsg) but i was running superchips and then revo software - i certainly agree its best to go with the intake developed for the map thats why i changed to itg and fingers crossed ever since no more engine cuts.

....I'm not sure that you'd like the noise.

Just to clear a few things up.

I am not in the market for an intake, but then this thread was not started by me, it was asking for preferences, and I feel I have an informed opinion.

I have given my preference, it is head and shoulders ITG, I like simple and effective, the ITG fits the bill, made by a Air filter specialist, and this fact has been shown to be beneficial by the numbers achieved.

As for the sound, I hated the vibrations given off by the BSH mounts, I felt they detracted from MY, and I repeat MY enjoyment of the car (I am presuming I am allowed not to like something here..........).  The Much feted Grrrr sound is in fact vibration feedback through the car, and if you like it, then great.  I didn't, I am sure I will get over it, oh look I have!

So to say I would not like the sound, is just your guess, you had not asked me about my opinion.  The OP asked my opinion, and I gave it, based on my Aerodynamic experience (studied as part of another course for 4 years), based on my engineering fabrication experience (28 years including 2 apprenticeships, one as a toolmaker/boilermaker (precision Welding and fabrication)and one as a Aerospace Engineer) , based on my looking into How to's, speaking with people with various filters,  and making MY mind up.  But you can still have your guess. :happy2:

However the forge is very well made, the fabrication is very well done.  The welds are a thing of beauty, if only other manufacturers gave such attention to detail to their welding (  :innocent:), I do not want to go any further into that debate, said all I want to say and have to ask you to  just read the forum.  Just I think the Forge is too complex, with the 2 intakes, and the 90 degree bend on the lower intake, which then runs onto the 90 degree convergence of the 2 airflows, just not  to my liking.  I am sure some will love it though.

Right, before I get flamed, this is just my opinion, after all that is what the OP was asking for.  I am not tied to any company, nor am I looking to blow sunshine up the aris of any company.  Open and honest opinions.

I would go with the ITG but the only thing putting me off would be all the different sections of it. It looks messy with four different connected pipes, plus a reducer, before the MAF housing, all of which could have been one pipe if they'd taken the time to fabricate it.

Apart from that the performance is good, but just looks too messy under the bonnet for me.

I have a carbonio on my K04, and as such satisfied with it. I still rate ITG and Forge as the only 2 atm that i possibly would swap the Carbonio for. ITG has to many connectors imo and to open the hood and look at a 1970's afro hairstyle quite turns me off, so forge is the one for me  :happy2:

Over the top mod list ;o)

if we all liked the same, life would be so boring.
