Buying Advice on a 2006
« on: April 09, 2019, 12:08:49 pm »
Hi Guys

I wonder if I could ask your expert advice on a 2006 Mk5 I just looked at

Overall it was an original car...one owner since new, old lady.

Things I noticed which I'm not sure how easy they are to put right

1. Front wheel arches starting to rust
2. Front headlines on the outside starting to oxidise
3. Mayonaise under the oil filler cap - could be from just short journeys?
4. Rear springs corroded (MOT advisory)

Could anyone offer any advice on these? Expensive fixes?

Thanks in advance

1will need new wings
2.body shop can get them looking like new just needn polishing
3.sounds like the car is doing short journeys and totally nornal
4,, rear springs will be slightly rusty nothing to worry about

if the car has been serviced and cam belt done and sounds ok sounds a good find

You can normally find pre painted pattern wings on eBay for a reasonable cost.

Thanks Guys

Do aftermarket wings fit ok?

The car is a 72k mile, 1 (mature lady) owner. VW history up to 2015 and 3rd party after. With cambelt done at 40k and 2 x DSG services
