Mk6 Golf R suspension on Mk5 Golf GTi

I guys seen some low mileage standard shocks from a mk6 Golf R, does anyone know if these would fit a mk5 gti ok? any benefits to report on ride height/handling? Mine have done about 88k now and feel spongy compared to my mates brand new golf R so looking to make improvements to my mk5.
