Yeh i say its the boot needs adjustment, it can be adjusted no problems, from new mine was a bit out so i got it adjusted, as was the front wing and drivers door (no accidents either), just VW famous build quality LOL, if it was closer i would lend you my paint gauge so you could test the paint to ensure its had no repairs

I think it's a fault within 30 days  :signLOL:
And you know they'd try their hardest to get out of it.

I have heard of a few Gti's with dodgy aligned panels, everything can be adjusted and you wont notice, although some of the bolts are painted and when opened the paint cracks on them, apart from that it will be fine

Im not too botherd about the paint on the bolts, the tailgate on the n/s just needs dropping a couple of mm. Is this easy to do?

What kind of checks would you recommend mate? I know it must of passed an HPI, as VW wouldnt sell it if it had not of passed the HPI.

just look down the panels, you should b able to see damage, there should be any ripples etc, look under it, lift the rubbers etc etc, i took my paint gauge with mine to check it properly, as even from new i have known cars to have had a respray on panels

Im going to check the boot floor plan etc when i go to collect the car. I know its have a new fuel flap, as the paint job is terrible, bit i can get that resprayed as i am in the trade. So i will look dow the pannels to see if there is any ripples. I know this may sound really stupid, but please forgive me as i am very fussy. If you wouldnt mind looking at the pics of the car again and just see if anything is missing :ashamed:, i dont know why, but i just think something is missing, it mite just be me being stupid :rolleye:. So you just think the boot needs adjusting? If that is the case, then its all good, im going to call the dealer tomorrow and ask them to attend to it. One final question, the standard GTI exhaust, is it supposed to be flush with bumper, as the car in questions exhaust is not. Also if the exhaust supposed to be up in the cut out in the lower exhaust, or is it supposed to hang slightly lower so that it is in line with the bottom of the lower section of bumper :ashamed:?

Think you are answering your own fears.

Car may have been fixed away from VW not recorded on any register, so the dealer will not be miss-selling.

From what has been said, getting the one with the sunroof may be the safer option.

It's not worth thinking if only in the future. Loads of GTIs out there and but a few good ones.
No Golf anymore.
Enjoyed the last five years of ownership of Mk5 & 6 GTIs.
Plus an excellent forum for knowledge and new ways to deplete the bank account.
Thank You Everyone.
