It is pretty straight forward:

- Loosen the wheel
- Jack up the car (make sure handbrake on and wheels chocked)
- Secure with axle stands
- Take wheel off and use a screwdriver to prise out the metal retaining clip that holds the pads in tight.
- Use the correct size socket and rachet to remove the caliper
- Remove the old pads and then use a G-Clamp to push the piston back in to allow you to fit the new pads

Then rebuild in reverse order

Nice one, So the same as every other car then, was worried that it was more complicated than that as VW wanted 100 quid to fit them.

 Bl00dy heck... that's a lot.

Nice tips, I'd even give it a go with clear instructions like that!

Here you go mate, the link below shows you all you need to know. It is for a Mk2 SEAT Leon but the bolts and the process is identical for your car.

think it is a 7mm alan key, the one that never ever seems to come in a set. Got one to fit my socket set for a couple of quid from europarts.

Make sure you have one before you start.

If you are local can lend u mine

Had another look this morning - deffo a 7mm alan. (Not 17 if you read this earlier) sorry

No Golf anymore.
Enjoyed the last five years of ownership of Mk5 & 6 GTIs.
Plus an excellent forum for knowledge and new ways to deplete the bank account.
Thank You Everyone.
