Car running on Ambrosia Custard

Hi, I posted a few months back concerning the "yellow gunk" under my oil filler cap that looked like Ambrosia Custard (Mmmmm :party:) Anyway I had some good feedback from the forum stating that this was due to doing short journeys (which I do) and the cold weather,( moisture not being burnt off and mixing with the oil) and that it was nothing to worry about. The car has been running beautifully, so I wasn't that worried.

However, the oil / custard had seemed to be getting thicker (around the cap) and I had noticed streaks of custard on the dip stick, so I took it back to the dealers (Kettering Autohaus) and they stated that they had had "lots" of cars back, during this cold weather, with this issue and it was nothing to worry about, stating the above concerning moisture etc. Anyway, as the car was still under warranty I asked for a compression test to be carried out just to make sure it wasn't the Head gasket. Luckily all came back well and the dealer has stated that I need to take it out for a burn to get rid of the "Custard"......

Anybody else out there running on Devon's finest export ? will it disappear in the long run? Any of you guys got more experience with it than me?. Cheers :grin:

I checked mine this weekend, and TBH mine is completely fresh - just like I had put oil in a week ago. No traces of mayo at all - either under the oil cap or the dipstick.
Then again - I do around 46 miles per day in total - 23 miles to work and 23 miles back. 20 of those miles (in total) are on the motorway - so this probably keeps my engine cleaner?

Take it for a good run on a motorway remembering to change gears late on acceleration.

I always thought mayo/custard on the dipstick was a bad sign?

well it can be, but the mayo can build up (without it being a blown head) on these areas if its not getting used enough each trip too
