the carbon grey sits in the top three mk6 colours for me

love the rocco rims, toying with a colour change for mine to something a bit darker

I was originally going to get reflex silver, but my son persuaded me to go for carbon grey (he is 20 and therefore thinks anything with 'carbon' in the name is cool) and I must say I don't regret it. When I ordered the car last May, it was a unique-to-the-GTI colour, but now - unfortunately - they also offer it on the GTD.

Economy seems to have dipped a little, TBH, and I don't think I drive the car any harder than I did before. If I drive very carefully (no city driving, steady 50-60mph) I can get about 38 mpg, but driving it normally (not stupidly) returns about 30 mpg.

I am slightly disappointed, although before the GTI, I had had nothing but turbo diesels, including a few TDIs which never seemed to need filling up

As for performance, it's in a different league to the stock car. I was a little disppointed by the acceleration when it first arrived. The Revo remap gives it the kind of performance I was expecting from a pocket rocket. I timed a 0-60mph run using the DSG box's launch control and my iPhone (!) a couple of months ago and got 5.6 seconds, which isn't too bad.

Monzas are a bit like Marmite, I think: you either love 'em, or (in my case) hate 'em. Another pic' in the Spring sunshine this afternoon showing the new R-type LED rear lights I fitted yesterday
