I am hoping to pick up a mk5 GTI in the coming months. I currently drive a Renault Clio 197. I bought it over 2 years ago to use it as a daily and for track use but this hasnt happened. My life plans have changed and Ill be looking for a (slightly) quieter, more comfortable and hopefully a little cheaper to run.
I get around 30mpg from mixed driving, insurance is just over £200 (group 29) and tax is the same as a GTi. The problem with buying French is... its French. Things wear out that shouldnt, such as a wiper linkage (just replaced at £150)
Its also a 3 door, verging on uncomfortable around town due to being so hard, useless and noisy on a motorway as its low geared and I fancy some more toys.
I've figured Id like a dark grey or blue 5 door GTi, less than 80k if possible and fairly original.
So far, the forum seems very useful so I look forward to being able to add something to it.
