Miss fire
« on: June 03, 2019, 09:32:20 pm »
Hi need some help.
Car went for a remap today stage 1 edition 30. Had a call from the tuner car made good power then started losing power.
He checked all the obvious stuff dumpvale, pcv and stuff like this all seems fine.
Done some logging I’ve got a miss fire on Cylinder 3.
Plugs and coil packs look fine recently replaced a month ago all brand new from aks tuning along with dumpvalve and pcv valve. He cleared the codes and he said timing was pulling back to 10 or something on cylinder 3, also looked dry in there.

Also mentioned I was getting timing pull on all cylinders, but 3 was the worse -10.
He reckons carbon build up, also never had any missfire before the map.

Send them off to be cleaned. That way you will also get an idea if one of them was faulty

Look at live data and log the misfires at idle - these are normally very consistent when an injector is at fault. Get it done and do not drive the car hard or you'll be looking for a new engine to go with your injectors

I don’t think it’s miss firing at idle only under hard load

I would only remap a car when I was 100% certain everything was working as it should but as as above drive like miss daisy and if I were you I would replace all injectors as in my book they are consumables and need replacement regually

Got the car back on standard map driving fine. Scanned the car when I got in no fault codes. Not miss firing or anything, what’s going on

This was the timing he was getting when trying to map the car.

So update on this,
Changed all injectors as the intake manifold was off anyway and cleaned all carbon build up.
Car was running better but still had the misfire,
We then found out the whole issue was down to the cat. Replaced this today and everything is running great no misfires and no lack of power.
Bit annoying but on the plus carbon has been fully removed and have new injectors.
