Best decat downpipe for gti mk5?
« on: July 21, 2019, 07:53:16 am »
Hello

Whats the best decat downpipe to  buy for a gti mk5 edition 30? I have a miltek cat back resonated exhaust system and currently a 200 cell sports cat which I want to replace for a decat downpipe to gain more power.

Will all the decat downpipes cause the engine light regardless of which one I buy?

Are the ebay downpipes any good? You can pick one up for around £125 brand new.. why are the ebay ones a lot cheaper than lets say miltek?

Last but not least.... does anyone want to swap a 200 cell sports cat downpipe for a decat downpipe?

Thank you!

Best or cheapest?

Milltek or Powervalve (BCS) are the best.

eBay are the cheapest.

eBay is sh*te quality materials. Milltek or BCS will be better grade of stainless and put together better. BCS better than milltek and have fantastic after sales.

Is yours full miltek and is it resonated or non resonated? I want to get pops and bangs but currently I have miltek catback with a 200 cell sports cat and want the pops and bangs to be loud but at the same time I dont want any drone? 🤔

Best = track slag.

Most others aren't full bore.  Remember turbo outlet is about 88mm, most DPs are only 3" ID (some even less!) which is an undesirable step in the flow.

TS also use proper OEM spec flex coupling of a decent length, which is important.

My mk5 gti is cat back non res and does occasionally give a pop and bang under spirited driving but my other car is full Milly non res decatted ........that will pop and bang and spit flames when driven but I don’t seem to notice any droneing but maybe because it is a much bigger car than the golf  :star:
If you get a remap you can have pops and bangs coded in!!!!
