Front Lower Wishbone Arms Question :solved:
« on: August 05, 2019, 07:28:43 pm »
The wishbone bushes on my car aren’t in the best condition so I’ve ordered a new set of wishbones.

I ordered pressed steel as that’s what is currently on my car, however they’ve sent me cast iron ones. I’ve read they aren’t interchangeable... true or false?

Kind regards,

Will.

Ok, I think I’ve answered my own question.

I’ve seen it stated that the wishbones aren’t interchangeable, so you need to order like-for-like. According to Eurocarparts, the cast items are for cars with Xenon lights. I’m guessing this is so the self levelling gubbins can be fitted. This then made me wonder if it was possible to replace pressed steel with cast iron but not the other way around. I then stumbled across an eBay advert which suggested cast items could be fitted in replacement to pressed steel.

My wishbone bushes failed on MOT a few years back.
Being pushed for time I just got new wishbones from a general car parts shop which have the bushes fitted.

Being cheap, they didn't last 12 months  :fighting:

Fortunately in that year I'd bought ali wishbones, poly bushes, audi solid consoles & decent ball joints to fit.
