Engine whining
« on: August 15, 2019, 05:41:29 am »
Hello
My engine has developed a whining noise, sound seems to be coming from the intake manifold section or behind it (?) but not too sure, the whining increases the more I accelerate.

It's a 2007 GTI Edition 30 75K DSG, cam chain belt, tensioners, follower and fuel pump have been done, its also remapped stage 1 and I've serviced the gearbox but still no luck.

Thank you

Try post a video up mate. Hard to even attempt to suggest what it could be without hearing it.

Pretty much only rotating assemblies whine.....so it could be the turbo, alternator, gearbox, A/C pump, water pump etc.

Try taking the alternator belt off and see if the noise stops.
