Car fault- help needed
« on: August 21, 2019, 08:25:24 pm »
Ok having a bit of an issue with my car, it’s a mk5 gt tdi 140, got it mapped a few months ago, was driving it on Saturday and while cruising at 50mp I noticed it started accelerating upto 60 with out pressing the accelerator any more, then when I got in the lower gears sitting at 20-30 mph when it hit around 2000rpm it would start bucking and juddering and the revs would shoot upto 3000, no lights on the dash have flashed upit’s currently in the garage and the mechanic is struggling to pinpoint the exact issue and has warned me I could be throwing money into it to get it fixed, thinking it’s a fuel injector issue, so not sure if I should try change the wiring loom at first as it’s the cheaper option and see where it takes me, just wondered if any line had a similar issue and could help shed some light.  :rolleye:

Thanks mate, that’s what I’m worried about, that garage I took it to I think had a obd reader, got it booked into a be specialist garage now so hopefully they can diagnose properly, would the map affect them using VCDS?

Defo get it plugged into VCDS, you’re on the right track by taking it to a specialist. No, the map won’t affect anything at all.

Thanks for the reply, got to wait till Thursday to take it in, I’m hoping it’s the injector wiring loom, anyone had one of those fail before? What’s the symptoms?

Fuel injectors in my book are service items sadly as they are a common failure
