Hi guys,
I'm a new member currently living in Pontefract West Yorkshire. Just bought a 2005 mk5 Golf GTI 5 door with manual gearbox and only 71k on the clock. It has no modifications and has already had cambelt, waterpump, new cam follower and diverter valve.
The strange thing is I don't love it like I thought I would? I've had 2 Type Rs and a couple of french GTIs and a couple of MX5s on coilovers and a Suzuki Sport, but compared to all of these the Golf feels heavy?
Compared to my last few cars it's really solidly built and has a luxurious feel to it; can't knock German engineering - I will always buy German or Japanese from now on. But it's not as finger tippy as I was hoping?
Am I being too spoilt? I took it for a blast yesterday on some country roads; green hills, sun was shinning, twisty bit... and it felt like a real weapon but it still felt heavy...?
I think my last few cars have weighed in around 1000kg, but when I checked this golf is 1400kg?
