Generic Map with hardware upgrades

Hi, Awesome GTI are having a Black Friday sale and their APR maps are a fair bit cheaper than normal, down to £400 from £550 vs Rtech at £450.

It was my intention to go to Rtech but Awesome are on my way into work versus Rtech who are hours away.

I have the VIS uprated HPFP internals and a K&N panel filter fitted and an S3 intercooler to fit as some point.

Would it be a waste to get the generic APR map, will the hardware upgrades be wasted/ignored and I just end up with the APR figures of  Power: 245-252 bhp/ Torque: 303 lb/ft?

You have exactly the same spec as me though I already have Revo stage 1 with fairly aggressive SPS settings and the precat delete. Your expectations are probably about right but I think rtech would get more like 260bhp / 330lb ft and a wider torque band with their custom mapping. I intend to go there after xmas to find out!

R-Tech will get you slightly better figures but for the mods you're running i dont think you'd notice much difference wacking a Revo on at this stage TBH.

For the sake of 50 quid, may as well go R-Tech if you want the most amount of power.   R-Tech's map is generic as well. They've written it once and sell it many times, just the same as all the other tuners.  It's never going to be a 'from scratch' map with ANY tuner, unless you specifically request something custom to suit the hardware.

Are they telling people what they want to hear or giving people a true representation of what their car is achieving.
I had our BWA engined car done at Awesome and it struck me that although on paper it was lower than I thought it might be, it was an honest figure. Much later I had some of the 'hardware' changed (intake fitted) and the car came alive again.
Get it done at Awesome and you will be happy, they will advise on the other things you mentioned with no bull.

The main issue here is that generic stage 1 maps are based around an hpfp request pressure of 110 bar to keep it within the parameters of the stock pump.  The OP has an upgraded pump capable of 130bar delivery and this is something which a custom map could capitalise on to give @10% more torque in the midrange and over a wider band. It won't help flow where K03 cars are restricted so max bhp will be much the same.

110 sounds stock to me? I've seen requests of 125 bar on my Stage 1 Revo but FPR requests depend on the tuner and boost levels.  Some pumps can support that fuel volume, some can't.  VW have changed the HPFP so many times it's hard to know which ones will work and which don't, but +25% short term lambda trim on the dyno is a definite message your pump can't handle it.

Actually, mine's a K04 so might demand a bit more motion potion.

This is what I am looking for.

A remap upgrade with any other hardware updrgades to get the most out of a stage 1 upgrade.. Ideally exhaust, Air filter, from this post a HPFP and intercooler. 

Any other hardware upgrades before the Stage 1?

Also, what is the Revo upgrade?

For the best Stage 1 performance, I recommend the following:

VIS HPFP internals
S3/6R intercooler
New fuel filter
New plugs - BK7RIEX
Red coils
Go fast Bits DV+
0W40 Mobil 1 oil
PiperCross dry foam panel filter
PowerFlex engine and gearbox mount inserts
Vibratechnics Dogbone mount
Precat delete

That lot should bag you around 310hp on an Edition 30 and 260ish on a K03.

You only need a downpipe, exhaust and induction kit for Stage 2/2+.  Well, I say 'need' but that's what the tuners selling you parts will tell you.  I've run 2+ with the standard exhaust, DP and engine cover without any issues.

Revo sell many things, so 'upgrade' can be software, brakes, intake etc.
