RNS510 Version differences
« on: January 10, 2020, 11:06:42 pm »
I've purchased a rns510 headunit which was removed from a T5 van. I haven't received the unit yet.

The part number is 7f0 035 680 D SW: 6276.

My question is what is the difference between the above unit and 1t0 035 680 D?

Will I have any issues installing into my MK5 (I've changed my canbus to L revision)?

And finally where can I get the code for it, will those sold on eBay work?

Thank you

The main difference between them is the speed and screen quality.  They will all fit into a MK5.

Much later ones got an SSD hard disk and LED screens.  I used to have a Revision A and I could drive to the end of my road (about half a mile) before it started playing music after turning it on.  Very slooooooooooow

Later ones also tend to have the battery drain issue solved with better firmware, or something, so no need for a newer CAN gateway.  I've left mine at Gatwick for 2 weeks and the car started no probs when I got back.  That was a revision Q with the original MK5 can gateway.
