I think VW West London Lied to me
« on: December 22, 2019, 06:26:49 pm »
Hi Guys,

So about two weeks ago i got the Oil warning light which tells you to turn your car off and the car's engine started making a weird noise. I took to my mate's garage and he informed me that the car had no oil pressure after he had completed an oil change.

I took the car to Volkswagen West London who fixed it and informed me that the issue was due to the oil filer leaking and the housing being broken, however my mate just fitted a new oil filter and he's always straight up with me regarding any problems with my car.  :innocent:

So it got me thinking that VW knew what the issue is but decided to keep it on the down low for some reason  :scared: :surprised:

Does anyone know why they would have done this and what the problem was???

Posibly the seal wasn't seated properly, the filter housing is plastic so it can crack causing a leak

Common fault is the oil pick up pipe in the sump gets blocked losing oil pressure

I really don't quite understand the original post.

If you trust your mate so much why not leave it with him to fix, had the vw garage done work on it already?
The post just seems all over the place.

Cracked oil filter housings is common.  Usually caused by people ignoring the torque figure embossed on it   20 or 25nm iirc, it's not a lot.  They see the big 36mm hex on it and think it needs 4 million lbft or something.  People using air guns on wheel bolts and fragile plastic parts should be marched off the premises and their job given to someone with more diligence and higher standards. F'ckwits.
