Balance Shaft Delete

Hi, the spindle/shaft that the chain driven oil sprocket sits on has sheared off on my car. I've ordered a new freewheeling sprocket from VIS rather than fit a new OE one.

Whilst the balance shaft housing is off can the shafts be removed from the housing? I'm thinking by doing this I could increase the oil capacity.

If they can be removed what's the best way to do this?
