Misfire cylinder 1
« on: December 16, 2019, 03:51:38 pm »
Hi as title suggests I have a misfire on cylinder 1, it doesn’t seem to happen under very light acceleration but if I press a little hard on the accelerator it hesitates and misfires from 2500-3200 rpm, it normally clears after this, I have fitted new plugs and new coil packs and ran 2 tanks of fuel through with fuel injector cleaner in.
Once it gets over 3500 rpm it is fine and goes really well, if it’s as I think an injector fault are they serviceable or will I need a new one, had it on a snap on tool at a garage and it comes up as misfire cylinder 1 ( p0301) also tried Carista it says the same but also random misfires detected (p0300).

My last set of misfires was the spark plug and fuel rail pressure. What brand of spark plugs you got? Its alot easier if you have a cheap vag com or vcds, to solve my misfires I bought a vag com from ebay for cheap, as you can see fuel rail pressure and a load of other block values.

How many miles has ur car done? Ive had multiple misfires before. My fuel rail pressure was low due to my fuel system having a bad relay, needing a new fuel filter and cam follower, and ultimetly a new intake cam. I'd suspect if its multiple misfire under heavy load it most likely will be fuel system pressure related rather than your injectors.

110000 miles brand new Bosch platinum plugs new coil packs, plugs I took out were only 10 months old, it’s only misfiring on cylinder 1 according to garage level snap on diagnostic tool and on my carista, I’m thinking it’s the injector but wanting to be sure, fitted new cam follower last year also.

Oh ok I thought you had said multiple misfires on your carista aswell. Spark plugs are good I like those Bosch platinum. I use an xtool vag 401 to read misfires, fuel pressures and any other blocks. It is really helpful and fairly easy to use. Just need to know how to interpret the values.

Isolate the problem - swap both plug & coilpack with another cylinder -
if the misfire stays put it’s injector, if it moves its plug or coilpack

No, looked all over google, emailed a few specialists who said they can refurb mine but it’ll be a 4 day turnaround, can’t be without car that long.

That amount of time sounds like they are sending the injectors off to be serviced.
You need to find someone who can do it in house - try contacting local commercial injector specialists, they tend to be a bit cheaper and more likely to do the service in house
