Been recently dealing with a water leak in the boot area, where water also ends up being accumulated in the spare wheel well. I know it’s a common problem.
After research I suspected it was from the air vents behind the rear bumper. Took the car to VW and they also diagnosed it as water ingress from the vents. They quoted me c. £300 to reseal the vents.
I wasn’t going to pay that so I removed the bumper and re-sealed the vents myself using silicone sealant.
I did this yesterday and today I’ve seen there’s still some water coming in when I pulled back the carpet where the rear lights are.
I’m sure I sealed the vents all around properly so where else could the water be coming from?
