Door dropped and air vent problem
« on: January 18, 2020, 04:16:46 pm »
Hi,

The center vent grill has broken ( the part you move around to direct air) can I replace just that part or do I need to replace the whole top section of the center console above the radio?

My drivers door has dropped slightly- any ideas how to correct it?

Cheers

The one on top of the Dash? - yes but suspect one form VW would be pricey, look for one from a breaker

My doors have dropped too, I have not tackled it yet, but there is adjustment in the hinge:https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=114440.0

my mk5 came new from dealer with badly aligned doors- dropped and top of doors made it look like it was a cut and shut.

took them about 2 years to get them lined up- with various trips to a number of dealers.

I had my passenger door drop it's an 07' plate. I loosened the bolts a little on the hinges and jacked the car door up with a block of wood under the door as there is quite a bit of space between the bolt thread and hinge holes. Worked a treat! 5 minute job.

Yeah you have to replace the entire housing above the radio to fix a broken air vent.  Bought one for mine.  It wasn't actually that bad from VW, £60ish.  It was a few years ago mind, so might have gone up since then.

The door is a piece of cake to realign. No need to jack the door up.  That just bends things.  It's better to do it properly as per the link  :happy2:
