OEM Sachs Audi/VW clutch
« on: March 05, 2010, 02:51:32 pm »
Does anybody know what the oem vw/audi sachs clutch is rated at bhp/lbsft??? I have just had one fitted to my s3 8p a few weeks back and wondering how far it can be pushed compared to the uprated sachs? Cheers, Stevie.

If its the same as you get in the ED30 then not alot.

Seems they cant even cope with stage 1 mods!

If it's the later Sachs one like you say and not the earlier (pre 08) LUK clutches then they aren't to bad. As there are a fair few Stage 2+ (360bhp 350lb/ft) S3's and Cupras running them with no issues as yet. But if it's the earlier LUK ones (which I think stands for LURPAK going on how soft they are) then not very much as has already been mentioned.

Whats it like to use? You ok with it on daily use? Have you been able to compare it to the less aggressive plate that they do?

Mine was the 08 onwards clutch and it didnt last 5 minutes with revo stage 1.

Not saying yours wont last, but just telling you what happened to mine!

What power are you running? if its around 300/300 it would be good if you report back on how it gets on at the pod etc..

330bhp and 330lbsft? Hoping it stands up to it no problem on 11th april, i was hoping it would be rated at 350lbsft, do you know what the uprated one is rated at? Is that around 380/400lbsft?

Avoid a paddle clutch Stevie, they are crap for doing 1/4 mile launches on 4wd cars. It doesnt allow any spin and the car just boggs down nearly stalling. Organic pressure plate is what you want :happy2:

theres such a variance I would propose that the way a clutch is bedded in and treated has a large effect on life.

My mates Spec Stage 3 paddle clutch with SMF launches like and absolute bitch in his S3. To the point where he can spin all four wheels  Something he could never do with the old DMF and standard clutch without it bogging most of the time..
