probably ......very easily lead!!!    what sort of power increase(bhp) would i be looking at...?

how much is it for a stage 1 re map ............???? and are they any downsides to doing this always felt a little bit cautious about doing something like this  !

Make sure you put money to one side for a uprated clutch if you have it re-mapped plus a HPFP is also worth having!

A £500 re-map can become a 2k re-map if your not careful.
Back to standard!!!!

I drive wifeys Ed30 every now and then and I always makes me smile.

I drive a new Sline A4 oil burner with multitronic and paddle shift which is fun, but there is no question I prefer the engaging lever throwing in the Golf. Auto for me just would not feel right.

She has muted that she wants to change....... But I'm fighting that one off.

Good luck with the huny

Welcome Along  :drinking:

You will find this place more bias to the ed30 but only due to less R32 owners.

Dsg versus manual, again you couldnt of asked 2 tougher questions lol.

Both awesome cars with either transmissions.

R32 will consume more fuel for town trawling. Ed30 will match it in straight line pace .
R will be quicker off the line and better around a track or in the Wet.
R32 modded will cost you alot for little performance gain unless you want to spend £3500 for a twin turbo conversion to 550bhp+
Ed30 at stage 1 remap for £400 of your pounds will make it a faster machine, and is more nimble/ less planted but hugely great fun.

You need to try both gearbox's to see which you like.

Dsg is been reported as a much better system over the SMG bmw version.

Go test drive each transmission to see which you prefer.

Dsg is faster excellerating then the manual , but some say you loose the feel of being in control.

I love Dsg personally, but as said, you really need  to go test and see which you like fella. :happy2:

That about covers what my thinking was before i plumped for an octavia!!! bigger boot and back seats won through

You need an account on an image sharing website (photobucket), then upload to that. It will give you an image code [IMG] when you view the pics, just paste that into into the message. :happy2:
