Accelerator Issue - Urgent Help Needed Please!
« on: March 06, 2010, 06:03:03 pm »
Hi All - need some urgent advice please as not sure if I should be driving the car or not!

Over the last few days of driving I noticed that the rev counter wasn't returning back to its idle position when I'm not on the accelerator and sounded like the engine was revving too high instead of slowing down when I expected it too.
Today the amber engine light came on and I called VW who have it booked in for Monday.
Only problem is I got my WALK fitted today and the 'helpful' chap also logged on with his diagnostic tool to put the light out - without me knowing!  :fighting:
He mentioned somthing about an accelerator issue but didn't give me any other details!  :stupid:
Anyway, I need to know if:
1) Anyone has experienced similar accelerator issues?
2) Will the light return if the problem is still there?
3) If the light doesn't return then will VW still be able to find the problem or be able to see the history of the issue?
4) Is it safe to drive the car?

FYI the car is Ed30 with Revo Stage 1, Twintake and HPFP fitted

Thanks in advance!  :happy2:

Yes i had something similar not so long ago and this pipe had a hole in it. Once replaced all was fine.

So i'd check that. Mine had only gone though as i once had the Forge DV on there before relocating the DV to K04 position (i've got a Skoda Octavia which has the K03s Turbo) and think i may have been over zealous with the jubilee clips

Not saying it is that but it's something to rule out.

Cheers Carl - I will get that looked at.
Do you know if the warning light will return or will it stay cancelled out once it's been reset even if the problem is still there?

If the problem is still there then even if the fault is cleared and the light goes out i would be pretty sure it would come straight back (or fairly soon anyway)

To check if it is that pipe start the engine and put your head near it and you will hear it hissing. The hole could be at the back (which mine was) and may not be visible until removed.
