hid fogs
« on: February 15, 2010, 08:47:23 pm »
Hi guys
I'm thinking of fitting hids to my front fogs (gti '05)
I've got the hid H11 bulbs but they don't seem to fit in the foglights
any ideas?
Cheers
Stu

Have you got just the bulbs or have you bought a HID Kit

Reason i ask is because you can't just put in a HID bulb you need the correct wiring and Ballast aswell.

hiya
yeah have the full kit as it was removed from my last motor
have already fitted a kit for the headlights (dipped beam)
it's just that the H11 bulb in the foglight(standard) has a locking system
and the H11 HID bulb hasn't is it a matter of modifying the old bulb to mount
the hid bulb to?????

Any help would be great
Cheers

I don't know to be honest as it's not something i have ever done.

I think you would struggle to modify the old bulb housing unless you are some sort of electrics guru.

I have a kit on my dipped beam too which was straight forwards to fit. I would have thought if it was a kit it would be the same.

Can you not speak to the people you bought the kit from originally and see if they have any specific bulb holders for it?

hi mate
have spoken to guys i bought the bulb/kit from and they seem to think that there
isn't an adaptor for the bulb so it looks like  i'll be modifying the old bulb
to fit the new hid bulb ,looks like i'll be busy this weekend!! LOL
