I doubt it, it took me hours to find out everything I needed to ensure I bought the correct second hand rack as I didn't want to go through the hassle of changing it more than once, and the true part number is hidden under a heatshield so you won't be finding it without removing the rack from the car...

Useful image showing the Gen 2 and 3. Gen 1 is usually only the oldest of the Mk5 platform but its worth checking before ordering a replacement

Second hand either buy same Gen you currently have or Gen3 with the loom (and subframe in unlikely even it is needed). Steering profile only needed on new racks, buy a used rack from a GTI or other sports model and it wont be needed.

I bought a correct Gen second hand Golf GTI rack for my Leon and didn't get so much as a fault code, didn't even need to plug VCDS in


When you mean steering profile is that an adaptation on vcds or something ?
