hi, just signed up as I`m helping my son sort a few problems with his mk5 gti.
decided to join this site as every time I google something this forum flags up with the best advice.
currently stripping down a complete cylinder head and then going to lap the valves and replace stem seals. the original head has some heavy wear on the inlet camshaft lobes on number 1 and rollers. cylinder 1 also seems to misfire. we have also just replaced the sprung gear on the balance shaft as the original one broke up. I think we were lucky there as the oil pump appears fine. no doubt I will have some questions as we go along.
