ISSUE - Revs climbing when changing gear (Video Attached)
« on: April 07, 2020, 04:06:13 pm »
Hi all,

New issue has arisen on my car today... the revs seem to climb when inbetween changing gears (Clutch pressed) meaning its very hard to change smoothly unless i wait around 3-5 seconds for the revs to dip again.

The issue seems to worsen (revs climb more) with more throttle input. It tends to become noticeable when going above 2000rpm. I have attached a video demonstrating the issue.

The car is R Tech 2+ spec. PCV is deleted and this issue wasnt present a few days ago.

&feature=youtu.be

Anyone have any ideas on the cause of this? I was thinking maybe breather or throttle body related?

To add/clarify to this..

The revs rise in between gear changes (OFF Throttle/ Clutch depresses) The rise in revs seems to depend on how much throttle was being applied in the build up to coming off throttle.

The exhaust note seems a but different.. And the boost does not come in linear like it usually would. Throttle inputs between 25-75% seem very jerky almost like it cant decide how much boost.

Ideally i need to log in VCDS but until the lockdown is finished this seems unlikely... any ideas are appreciated :)

Scanned it and had a clutch switch related fault. Ordered the new "hall" sensor as VW call it. Will keep posted.

New hall sensor/switch and a 5A Fuse in engine bay F39 has fixed the issue!

Glad you fixed it mate, read the title and thought clutch switch straight away.
This used to happen on the mk4’s too and was related to the coolant temp sensor.
